We left The USA on Monday and drove up to Manitoba to visit with our friends again. Neil & Dorothy have been friends of ours for close to 40 years. I met Dorothy when Steve & her daughter Leanne were in Kindergarten together and Brian worked with Neil, who was raising his 2 boys as a single dad, framing houses and then they went into partnership together. Yes we introduced them and they have been happily married for 35 years. Neil had cancer 15 years ago and recovered from that very well but this spring has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and has already lived longer than predicted. It was so very important for us to visit them on our trip east and even more important to visit again on our way back home. We so enjoyed our time with them They are the best people you would ever want to call Friends.

Decided to do a little driving west through Manitoba & Sask before crossing back into USA again. The fields in Sask look so much different than when we came through in June. And yes Fall is in the Air.
Drove to a little town named Carnduff, Sask for the first night and the road was great the campsite was great for a one night stay. Off in the morning for Val Marie Sask to cross into Montana. The roads to Val Marie which also head to Grasslands National Park and then to the boarder were horrific. Patch upon Patch and bumpy to say the least. Not happy with Canadian secondary highways.

So crossed the boarder 30km after leaving Val Marie and immediately the road was soooo very much better and I mean immediately the minute we went through the boarder crossing the road was very very good. Oh and we were greeted at the Border Crossing by these lovely friends pic below
Montana is beautiful with such a diverse landscape. One minute its flat then rolling hills some with flat tops, gulches, river valleys then back to flat land. We stayed in Great Falls the first night and then moved on.

Decided to drive to Missoula and spend a few days there and the scenery on the drive was amazing The Last pic of the canyon was so beautiful to see and around every corner there was another great view. Also some of the colors on the rocks were so different from any we have seen before. So had to drive through a mountain pass which was 6300ft high on our way to Missoula which is 3200ft. The highway was very good all the way but we encountered snow on the top but not on the roads. Temp at top was 2 C and at the bottom was 7 C It was a very cold day.

Missoula is a nice town and we love Montana and plan to come back probably next year to spend more time here and in Idaho as we seem to have run out of time and want to get home before it gets too much colder. Oh and today the temp is a balmy 19 C Sunny and very warm YEAH
