HISTORY LESSON FROM NOVA SCOTIA
July 26, 2016
We are in Annapolis Royal and it is one of the oldest European settlements in Canada The area was first settled in 1605 by a small group of French explorers led by Samuel De Champlain
Also in Annapolis Royal still standing are the 1st to 4th oldest wooden structures in Canada. Below are some pics of the town and area.
July 27, 2016
Today we toured Port Royal which is the original location of the settlement of 1605. The buildings have been authentically reconstructed down to the minutest detail. The originals were burnt down by the British raiding party 8 years after they were constructed by the French. It really was incredible to see and feel the history of Canada
PLEASE NOTE::::: We also went out to dinner in Digby but I decided against putting a picture of our very Large Digby Scallop Dinner (6 large scallops) on the blog as I wouldn't want you to be drooling on your Computer. It was awesome - cooked to perfection - YUM

Also of note The Bay of Fundy has the greatest tides in the world. They have been in extreme years as high as 53 1/2 Feet. This picture shows a typical dock at low tide, and at high tide you could walk off the dock onto the boats. We have seen boats sitting on the ocean floor many times in the Bay of Fundy

PEGGY'S COVE, NOVA SCOTIA - AMAZING
July 25, 2016
Today we drove just over an hour to Peggy's Cove and it is the most beautiful place and truly we were in awe of the spectacular view, the quaint very small fishing village, the incredible lighthouse and the history of the area. We spent hours there walking the rocks, looking at the view, walking the village and I took approx. 80 pictures. Ok maybe I over did it with the Pictures but you would take just as many if you were here. It is literally amazing. It is incredible how Nature can make you feel very small.

NOVA SCOTIA - BEAUTIFUL
July 23. 2016 We are in Nova Scotia. Lunenberg to be exact and I am in love with this town.Lunenburg is a UNESCO Heritage Site. It is an absolutely beautiful seaside town. The old refurbished homes painted in all different colors and the spectacular waterfront. There are also a ton of B & B's in the area (pic Below is one of them) The whole area is incredibly beautiful and I have been overly enthusiastic with the camera which I am sure I will regret when we get home and I start going through pictures
The Church in the picture above was build in 1753 then severely damaged by fire in 2001 and restored. It is the Second oldest Protestant Church in Canada and the detail on it is incredible.
Today we drove to Mahone Bay which is about 10km away and just another quaint seaside town. This area is definitely worth seeing and it is a major highlight of this trip.
Oh and did I mention the Mussels---Scallops (with bacon jam on top) and Yes the LOBSTER YUM YUM

SAINT JOHN - NEW BRUNSWICK
July 19, 2016
Today we are in Saint John, New Brunswick. Did the Tourist thing and went to see the reversing rapids. They are a result of the enormous tides of the Bay of Fundy pushing back the Saint John River. Quite the spectacle. The Cormorants are diving for fish in the fast flowing water.

The downtown area is unique in its architectural diversity. Most of the buildings are old and restored with a few new ones thrown in the mix.
We have also so enjoyed seeing the historic buildings in the area. Some of them are so unique and beautiful and old which you do not see much of on the west coast. They are absolutely incredible.
Last but not least we had the best LOBSTER dinner right on the waterfront in downtown Saint John on the Patio in the sunshine. YUM YUM Hope you are all jealous cause it was really Fantastic
NEW BRUNSWICK - COVERED BRIDGES
July 18, 2016
So Today was one of Brian's favourite days of our holiday. We went to Covered Bridge Potato Chip factory (they are GF) and did a tour and they handed out bags of fresh chips (Brian had 2) to eat along the way. I think he almost cleaned the store out too. The factory also boast the shortest covered bride (hence the name) in the world (It crosses from one parking lot to another)

We also had a great time touring real covered bridges. You don't see those in B.C. The longest covered bridge in the world is in Hartland NB It was built in 1901 and is 1282 ft It was amazing.

NEW BRUNSWICK-FRIENDLY PEOPLE & THEIR HERITAGE
July 16, 2016
So as with most vacations ours has changed somewhat. We kind of hustled through Quebec partly because the weather was not good and partly because it was the weekend and most campsites were full so we found ourselves pushing on to New Brunswick and we will see some of Quebec on our way home.
We arrived in Edmundston, New Brunswick and Brian had located a campsite online that he really wanted to go to so here we are. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and the camp owner told us there would be a party (the seasonal campers were doing Christmas in July) with music till approx. 11pm and if that would not work for us she could put us in a different site; We were okay with that and it turned out to be a great experience; Around 8 pm the locals started playing their music and honestly they are really good. We had a wonderful time and one lady told us they have some kind of event every weekend. Honestly it so reminded us of camping with our friends in Fanny Bay. It was a great experience of the local people and their culture and we had a blast.
New Brunswick also has an abundance of covered bridges that are absolutely awesome We stopped at two in Edmundston and will see more as we move through the province
This church we almost passed by as we did not know it was there until we were right beside it. It is built up on a hill and is just beautiful.

THE END OF ONTARIO - FOR US
July 12, 2016
So we left Niagara Falls and braved the wilds of the 401 through Toronto. Never have we seen so many lanes of traffic in one place. 14 Lanes of traffic 7 each way. And this picture was taken at 11:30 in the morning, can you imagine rush hour YIKES Lucky for us our GPS (nickname Bertha) got us through unscathed.
I had read about a little town called Port Hope so we headed there and what a wonderful little town it is. We spent a few hours walking around and taking pictures. Some of the buildings are very old and the architecture is truly wonderful. It was hard to find a place to park especially the big rig of ours because they are filming a remake of a Stephen King novel in the town. Some of the pics below you might see American Flags (for the movie)
We also went to Sandbanks Provincial Park which is on Lake Ontario and I walked through the very warm water but the sand was so hot you could not walk on it. Beautiful spot with lots of people (and I don't blame them awesome beach) and endless sand dunes. The beach and sand dunes span a distance of approx. 12km
Last of the day we went to some local wineries one of which was Terracello which was a quaint little Italian family run winery. The lady was just about to close when we arrived but invited us in and we tasted some pretty good wines and had an awesome conversation with her. This is one of the things we love most about this trip. The small local places and the people that live there.

Today we journeyed to Prince Edward County which is an island on the North Shore of Lake Ontario. It is basically a farming community with maritime flavor. If you have not been here and are in the area you need to go. There are several small towns in the county and all have some exceptional heritage buildings. One of them that so impressed us was the United Church in Picton which was built in 1898

NIAGARA FALLS - NATURE IS AMAZING
July 10, 2016
Niagara Falls WOW WOW It is amazing. The mist - the force of Water - The absolute Power & Beauty of Nature - Its INCREDIBLE When we first arrived it was cloudy and the wind was blowing in our direction so the mist was high and it felt like it was raining but it wasn't. (Not to say it didn't rain because it poured buckets at one time that day) We walked around, took some pictures and enjoyed the beauty. Then decided to get something to eat so when we came back to the Falls it was sunny, warm and there was an amazing rainbow in the falls So More Pictures (see Below) The Falls are definitely one of Natures Best.
We have been here for 5 nights and have had a great time. Went to the falls a couple of times and one day we spent tasting some wine at a few of the many wineries in the area. From the wineries we did go to nothing was amazing but we certainly didn't stop at all of them and I like most wines anyway right? It was an enjoyable day We have done a lot of walking and have really enjoyed our time here especially the Falls. Again they are absolutely one of Natures Best Productions.

July 3, 2016
We are really enjoying Ontario. It is Lush, Green and has an abundance of small, medium and large lakes Lake Superior is Very Large and Very Beautiful. We have driven from Thunder Bay to Sault Ste Marie which is approximately 710 K which we did in 2 days and during that whole drive we saw bits & pieces of Lake Superior. It has lots of large & small Islands and rocks altogether in one very large body of water. The water is clear and in some spots looks very tropical with blue, green water and sandy beaches and anyone who knows me well knows I Love the Beach

We spent 2 days in Sault Ste Marie and it is a really nice place. Enjoyed the waterfront park and went to the Bushplane Heritage Museum which was very interesting with lots of displays of old bushplanes and a water bomber. They also had a 3D film on the present day Waterbombers fighting Forest fires in Ontario. We will visit this city again on our way home as we will be entering into USA from here for our journey back, On the Road again tomorrow We are having a blast
